The exact UAE resume format, top to bottom
UAE recruiters read CVs in the same order every time. If your sections are in a different order, they spend an extra five seconds hunting — and five seconds is a third of the time your CV has on screen. Use the order below.
Section order
- Header — full name, optional photo (top-right), +971 phone, professional email, city, LinkedIn, nationality, visa status.
- Professional summary — 3–4 lines: job title + years of experience + sector + one quantified achievement.
- Work experience — reverse chronological, month/year dates, 4–6 quantified bullets per role.
- Education — highest first, university + degree + year.
- Certifications — CFA, ACCA, PMP, CIPD, AWS, etc., with year of completion.
- Skills — grouped: technical / business / tools.
- Languages — with proficiency (Native, Fluent, Conversational).
- References — “Available on request” is fine.
Length norms
One page for freshers and recent graduates. Two pages for everyone else — even 15-year veterans. Three pages signals you can’t prioritise. Compress jobs older than ten years into a single “Earlier roles” line.
What to include — and what to leave off
- Include: nationality, visa status, driving licence, notice period, languages.
- Often included: marital status, date of birth, dependents (regional norm, not oversharing).
- Leave off: salary history, religion, photo of family, full home address, ID/passport numbers.
Photo guidance
A small professional headshot is the regional norm, especially for client-facing roles (hospitality, real estate, retail, banking, sales). Use a recent, well-lit photo with a plain background and business attire. Skip it only for multinationals with global HR processes.
Once your CV follows this order, verify it in our free ATS checker before you submit.
